How do you untangle a piercing which goes from the male pec to the lady's *********?

yesterday whilst having sexual intercouse with my casual lover, his nipple piercing got caught in my vaginal piercing. we have been stuck this way for 18 hours. as you can guess, life is getting pretty difficult stuck like this. any idea's on how to untangle ourselves. is it safe to just rip that sucker out of there?
