How come american people thinks letting your relatives help you find a wife is outrageous?

It is not outrageous. I'm a vietnamese guy and I'm 21 years old and I couldn't find a girl on my own to marry me in the united states. So my mother asked my auntie in vietnam to help me find a wife and my aunt setted me up with this girl. People think it's outrageous that they are doing this when it's normal in my culture. Why do people think this ????
