How do I ask my grandparents for a large amount of money?

Hi there, so I need to know how to ask my grandparents for about $3000.00 . I'm really not trying to be greedy, I just really do not have the funds to pay for what I need. So I just got fired from my good-paying, close job, and I'm thinking of getting a job that is further away and having to commute. The problem is, I do not have a vehicle. I have my drivers license, but not a vehicle. Okay, so I found a vehicle I reaaaaally want to buy that is $2600. I'll need the extra $400 to pay for registration, insurance, etc. How do you think I should ask? And it is not like they are hurting for money, both sets of my grandparents are fortunate, one gave my auntie a car loan and house loan and the others gave myself $1200 for my birthday a couple years ago.
